So, I am repeatedly exposed to certain commercials that just drive me up the wall...
Most of them are for State Farm insurance. I have State Farm, and it's great insurance, but if I didn't already have it, I would NEVER buy it based on commercials where people yell their jingle off-key. It is so annoying I hit the mute button and usually leave it muted for the rest of the break. Pity, because the remaining commercials deserve a chance.
Another one is the Biotene commercial. You know, the products for people with dry mouths. The horrific sound of someone preparing to either hurl or spit is such a turn-off I would never consider buying the product, and again, the commercial and remaining commercials get muted.
By far the worst one is the credit report commercial that starts with a horribly unattractive old person screaming something about being defrauded by lies on the internet. How novel. Everybody knows that everything on the internet is absolutely true, or Big Brother would never allow it.
I have to wonder if any corporate executive from the above has ever even watched these commercials. That's another rant that would probably get me in trouble.
Oh, and here's another one. USAA auto insurance. "Once it is earned, it is passed down...". Now I'm not a veteran, but unless I am mistaken, this is car insurance. It is something anybody can buy from them. But somehow their commercial telegraphs the idea that their insurance is so good, you have to join the military and earn the right to buy it. Is it me, or is that just a little pretentious, if not an outright lie? Like I said, I'm not a vet, but if I were one, I think I would be offended. The commercials do have nice production values, though (snicker).
